Okay, I know it's just me, but I detest spelling errors and poor grammar in a book. There were so many errors here that I could not get past them. It's like someone's car alarm going off, only worse. Seriously, was there no one who could edit the manuscript before sending it off for printing? I failed to read the two-star reviews and would have been forewarned had I done so. I found the plot to be transparent and not particularly interesting, but I pushed through and finished the book. I won't be reading anything else by this author. But that's just me.
I liked the plot enough to rate four stars, but the novel had so many grammatical errors that I lost count after fifteen. I needed to read through some awkward constructions and the comma errors were numerous. In one spot the main character Dexter was spelled Deter and I thought it was a new character. That being said, the characters were fun to read about and the storyline moved along nicely. I enjoyed the ending and thought it wrapped up nicely. My favorite characters were the Ninja Turtles who took karate lessons and put them to good use. I would read this author again, but I hope he uses a different editor.
As an author, I expect books to be edited and proper word usage, i.e. the correct spelling of homonyms.This book had so many typos and homophones spelled incorrectly I can't imagine this was even edited.I will not finish this book as this is too aggravating and took away any reading enjoyment.
I made a mistake of starting this book late at night. English is not my first language therefore I missed most of the roadblocks that other readers had encountered due to mis spellings et al. I urge the author to be working on more stories. This book was very entertaining, it is Sunday noon and I have not showered nor changed because all I want is to continue to read. I am disappointed that there is not another book. I got this one for free but happy to pay for the next one if it is as enjoyable. The read is very easy as the story teller had a way to weave the story in long paragraphs usually a sign of books describing some historical parts that are of no interest nor much to do with the characters nor storyline. I love it!
Really enjoyed this book from the get go. Interesting and truly colourful characters coupled with an honest look at a typical small town and how things roll where everyone knows everyone. I love law novels that illustrate real law, where the actual cases rarely go to trial and one gets a glimpse of how things truly work. No big courtroom drama and showcasing. Good storyline that unfolds well. Pity about grammatical and spelling errors throughout, but especially towards the end. It is quite irritating to come across such errors in what is otherwise a good read. Editing and proofreading definitely needs work.
Good story with an interesting plot but this is the worst book that I have ever read for spelling mistakes.I presume that the manuscript went to a proof reader before it was printed but how on earth did so many schoolboy errors appear ! They spoilt an otherwise good read ..
There were numerous typos throughout the book but don’t let that get in your way of enjoying this read. They were easily overlooked because of the unique character and plot development that drew my attention from the start. Being from the South, I found the characters totally relatable. It was a fun read and I hope another book is coming soon.
As someone who grew up in a small town and later worked as a reporter there, I can tell you that this book accurately depicts a small town’s legal system and citizenry without resorting to sentimentality (or worse: mockery). I’m ready for the next book in this series, please.
