A very interesting book. First of all, the author is not a nutcase. He doesn't have prophetic visions of doom or predictions of the zombie apocalypse to peddle. He points out there are many different local or regional disasters that can and have disrupted the normal way of life for days or weeks at a time. Prepping puts you in position to survive these events.His style is very easy to follow. A conversational tone and illustrations from his own experience makes the author very human.The book is a good beginning resource. It surveys areas such as food, power, health care and defense. It presents numerous options that are available and discusses the strengths and weaknesses of each. Often he intends to start the thought process and provides other resources where you can pursue the ideas further.I enjoyed this book very much.
Spell check is not enough. I am not a writer, and I imagine undertaking writing a book is difficult, however, having someone go through the manuscript would be worth your time. I trust the author is not living off the grid on the income from this book.
Like many books priced $2.99 and under on amazon, this book wastes a lot of page saying " Here's what you should learn" instead of actually teaching you anything. The author will tell you, "You should really learn gardening, hunting, and self defense..." WELL, DUH! Why doesn't the author just tell us HOW he likes to grow vegetables? What vegetables are the most practical to grow? How do you raise chickens, or how to skin a rabbit before cooking? The lack of detail leads me to the conclusion that the author either wanted to make a quick buck and didn't want to spend much time writing, and/or he actually doesn't do much "prepping."I would much rather have had a short, detailed book on 1 small aspect of survival or SHTF prepping, than a broad, unhelpful, generic book about the subject.
If you have watched over 3 YouTube videos on prepping you already know more about prepping than what is in this thing. It's basically just lists with no in depth details; no real information. Actually there many things stated in this book that are wrong. If you are looking for good information from someone with experience then skip this book and try a different one.
Just like you can never have enough supplies and survival plans in preparation for when the SHTF, I also believe you can never have enough Prepper books, so I own quite a few and I can safely say that this is the best Prepper book I've read yet. If you are preparing for when SHTF, when make sure you include this book in your collection for some fantastic tips, tricks and DIY topics!
WOW!!! The definition of "book" has certainly changed. This is not what I would ever call a book. Kevin is an author in the sense that I am an author by way of writing this review. He merely lists vague preps/ideas for you to "learn more about". For example, he lists a lot of food items to store, stating next to each group their approximate shelf life, with the caveat of "if stored properly". Do you think he could bother to write a few lines stating exactly what proper storage is for each group? No. He cannot. The "info" in this "book" was so poorly written, a proofreader/editor would have been in order. Kevin may be an excellent prepper, but it looks like he thought he could make a quick buck by passing off a Cliff Notes version of an actual informative book. Save your money. It would be better spent on toilet paper than this drivel.
It's really more a book of lists than anything else. "Here's my list, you'll have to Google how to actually do the things on my list" would have been a better title. Not a bad list just not much info on the things on the list. You can find most of this (not all) easily on most preparedness sites. But it was free so it had that going for it. The 5 star reviews I don't get.
Really intersting book! I was looking for a well-written guide for the situations of disasters and this one fits all the requirements for such books. The stories, hacks and tips are very useful. During a long period of time I was learning how to survive in critical and dangerous life situations. So it seemed to me that I know almost everything about that. But this book widened my mind and gave some new ideas. I advise everyone to read it!
